Fueblog - An inspirational hair transplant story
I'd like to share these pictures of a young man who wanted to do something about his receding hairline. He decided to have a hair transplant using the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique and he has not only recorded the process every step of the way but has bravely produced a superb blog about it. You can follow his story for yourself at fueblog.com

What does the world think of Laser hair Restoration?
It has been some time now since I last wrote on this blog, partly I suppose because it's been a dramatic year for me and Jan. My chemotherapy finished in October 2012 and I'm happy to say that all the check-up's since have shown that my body has and continue's to respond well. Chemotherapy is a powerful treatment that in my case was killing off white blood cells, the same cells that were clogging up my lymph nodes and making them swell.
Of course, the same drugs have an effect on other cells in the body, namely the hair cells which are also destroyed and there was a noticable reduction in my hair count and quality during the treatment. The protocol for laser hair treatment dictates that we must not offer treatment to Cancer patients and Leukaemia is a Cancer. However where most cancers are characterised as 'uncontrolled division of rogue cells' which produce tumours, my problem was that white blood cells were not dying at he end of their life cycle and as such were then not being cleared by the body's natural clearing system.
This led me to conclude that perhaps the laser treatment, which after-all promotes cell division within the skin, might not be completely out of bounds for me. I discussed this issue with my Consultant and he saw no reason not to resume the treatment but to be careful about large amounts of radiation. So it has been 9 months since the end of the Chemotherapy and I have decided to begin a gentle regime of laser therapy. I will post the early results in my next post.
One of the most difficult aspects of the laser treatment with regards the customers has always been managing their expectations. Naturally people want to see results quickly and in the early days I only had the manufacturer's word as to when people would start to see results. Reality is that laser treatment is a slow and steady process and customers sometimes become frustrated when their progress is not as fast as they would like. The basic treatment course is 1 year but I think it's fair to say that most people will need longer than that and then I have the job of managing impatience and frustration. As a result I am going to try and find out what other laser clinics are experiencing with their customers and see if we can develop a common understanding and strategy for helping customers get through their treatment. For full information including how to get your free consultation visit http://www.belmonthairclinic.com
One new development since my last post is the launch of the Belmont Hair Clinic Shop which sells all the hair-loss products from HLCC including DHT Blockers, DHT Shampoo, Scalp Therapy, Re-Stim (Minoxidil/Saw Palmetto solution), Maximum Growth Therapy and laser brushes. These can all be found at www.belmonthairclinic.co.uk

Spring Shoots
Well, the bad news is that on March 27th I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia which has meant that I can have no more laser treatment on my hair. The laser process encourages cell division and I don't want to be encouraging cancer cells to divide and multiply.
The good news is that our clients are beginning to see results at the six month mark. as for me I'm going to carry on using Maximum Growth Therapy and 5% Minoxodil 5% Saw Palmetto on my hair and it will be interesting to see what effect that has. I have had to stop taking Blockers so they do not interfere with my chemotherapy treatment. It's a shame because my hair is beginning to grow on top.
And now for some examples of our clients success.
